Estonian Genetic Plant Resource meeting 07.03.2019

NGO Maadjas is representing the Estonian Environmental Association’s Union in the national  Commission on Collecting and Saving Agricultural Plant Resources. This is a group of specialists, representants from ministries (Ministry of Rural Affairs, Environmental Ministry) as well as representants from authorities. During the meeting there is also discussed in an unformal way different challenges and possibilities for safe keeping national plant genetic materials. During the meeting that was kept in Saku the new ecological seed legislation was discussed, information from the 17th FAO meeting on genetic resources, issues related to crop wild relatives, evaluation of the Estonian Plant Genetic Resource program as well as discussions on plant genetic expeditions for summer 2019.
